SPRING COMPETITION - AUGUST 30

The Society hosts two competitions each year—one in spring (August) and one in autumn (March). These events are a highlight on the calendar, offering members a wonderful day of camaraderie, creativity, and celebration.

The day begins with the check-in of artworks, followed by morning tea in the art room where members gather and connect. While judging takes place, a guest presentation is held featuring a local artist or respected figure from the art community.

Once judging is complete, an awards ceremony is conducted. Trophies and merit awards are presented, with each piece thoughtfully commented on by the judge.

Each competition features a range of categories, allowing members to submit works across different styles and mediums. Judging is carried out by a different guest each time—typically a professional artist, curator, or arts industry expert—bringing fresh perspectives to every event.

Members are warmly encouraged to enter as many categories as they wish, to challenge themselves creatively and fully engage in the spirit of the event.
